This is the show I grew up on. Far and away my fave trek spinoff. The best characters (yes even Wesley Crusher). I love the idea of exploring space. Something that the JJ Abrams movies don't really do.

I also grew up watching this show. One of my favorite episodes is "The Drumhead" which was a statement on McCarthyism from the Cold War era and how freedom was violated in those days. The allegories fit current events of the last twelve years here in America as well so "The Drumhead" remain one of my favorite episodes. "Who Watches the Watchers" was another favorite of mine. It really exposed organized religion for what it really is. Gene Roddenberry was a man way ahead of his time.
