What should I use for...?
Thought there should be a thread for where to come when we all need a bit of advice from others on what to use for customs, how to make them or what to make if you think you'd made all the vital characters.
Use this thread to ask questions or post tips on how to make a figure.
I'm wanting to know what to use as a base for Romana I (Mary Tamm as Romana). Preferably a cheap figure and I'm more interested in the body bit (as I can sculpt the head) and not too interested in how long a skirt goes (but that might be helpful). Any suggestions?

Looks like she wears heels a lot in the pics. Maybe a modified Peri? Or Jo?
Need an in-scale Rottweiler for an upcoming figure. Any ideas where I could find one? Been checking out the Schleich stuff, but no luck so far.

Ooo... that's a toughy... (Thanks for a suggestion. I was also thinking of a series 6 River for the Power of Kroll Romana.)
Have you tried typing in 'Rottweiler figure' into eBay. You might get lucky with another smaller brand of plastic models. If not, another more commonly sculpted dog could be edited to be a Rottweiler.

A likeness lives or dies on the shape of the face. If you concentrate on that hair and clothing can be scuplted
Re: What should I use for...?
Yeah. The River Song figure seems to have separate hair (easily removable) and wouldn't be a bad base when repainting. The eyebrows are too high even for River. I could probably edit the chin and cheekbones like I did with an Adric figure a while back. I'll keep searching.

River's hair and jacket pieces on the 11th Doctor version are separate and easily removable.

I thought as much looking at images (don't have one myself). Now I can add her, and three new scale figures to the list after my birthday.
