The NerdSoup Point System - WIN PRIZES!

Hello all!

We're introducing a brand new forum point system! Basically, the purpose of this system is that the person with the most points at the end of the year wins a desirable prize (of which is yet to be decided, but I will update you soon on that - it will most likely be an action figure(s) of some form).

To win points, you must post on the forum, start threads and participate in the forum quiz (which is held on the chatbox every Sunday at 7.00pm).



Posts = 2 points
Threads = 5 points
First person to answer a question correctly during the quiz = 10 points

A ban of any length will result in 100 points being deducted from the user in question

To be in with a chance of winning, you MUST sign up to be part of the competition group to have your points counted and be eligible to win the prize. Just type your username into the following group and you're all set!


THE PERSON WITH MOST POINTS AT THE END OF THE YEAR WINS THE PRIZE! MOST POINTS = MOST POSTS, THREADS & PARTICIPATION, SO MAKE SURE YOU GET ACTIVE ON NERDSOUP IN ORDER TO WIN!

The first count and unveiling of the winner will be on boxing day 2014. We might make prizes more regular than just annually depending on the success of this first go.

Also, please note that staff members are exempt from prize winning. We may award points to members on special occasions for exemplary reasons too, as a way of rewarding people if necessary.

Sounds like a really good idea. Hopefully we'll get more people to be posting and being active on here. I might even join in with the quiz if I can.

Glad that this has gone down well! As I said, I'll reveal what the first prize will be soon so everyone has something to look forward to and work towards!

Does anyone have any ideas of what you'd like to see as the prize? After all, it's you lot that will be winning it so it should be something that you'll want.

A figure or book about something talked a lot about on the forum: Doctor Who, Star Wars, Comics. That's what most of us seem to be talking about.

Due to some technical issues we've encountered with the system, members need to sign up to the points group to have their points counted and be eligible for winning the prize.

Basically, yeah. Unfortunately the system allows us no way of viewing a rank board or some other form of chart to show us who has the most points like we can with posts (i.e. the 'Top Posting Users This Week' ranking on the side bar of the forum), so it means that we have to check people's points manually. It would be easier for us to have a list of the people who want their points to be counted and are interested in receiving the prize than for us to have to manually count the points of every single member, a majority of which are not actually active members anyway (hopefully this incentive will change that, mind!)

So yes, make sure you're all part of the Points Competition Group or you won't be eligible for the prize!
