NerdSoup does MineCraft!

Hello everyone,

We are growing aware that there is a significant portion of MineCraft players on the forum, and as we're always looking to find new friends to sign up to the community, we have identified MineCraft as a good outlet to extend our reach.
As I am sure most of you are aware, MineCraft is a very social game, and so will integrate perfectly into the social dynamic of a forum like ours, and with this in mind, we have decided to use this as both a way of benefiting the forum as a whole, in addition to providing our members with another source of entertainment 'on us'.
'So, what's the plan?' I hear you ask, 'Could it be a forum Let's Play?'
Well, indeed it could be! As you should be aware now, we're always begging for new suggestions, but as it stands, we have decided to start a series of YouTube videos chronicling the forum's frolicking on that familiar block world we all know so well.

We're still not 100% on how this would work yet, but as it stands, if you want to join in, you are going to need three things: MineCraft, Skype, and an imagination! We will be holding sessions on the forum's MineCraft server which will be filmed and put on to YouTube, along with everyone's discussion and commentary on what they are doing.
Obviously this will be totally free, and, if it's good enough, should attract the attention of others wanting to join in, as well as being fun in the process - winning all round!

Although I'm heading this, I only have a vague idea of how MineCraft works, so I will need someone to take the reigns, as it were. We will also need to organize how the filming is done, when the sessions will be and what sort of content will be included.
Luckily for us, there is a limitless space below for your comments, so please give us your suggestions, offers of help, wishes to be involved in the project. Also, whoever runs the forum MineCraft, could you please flag yourself up!

I look forward to what is to come from this exciting new extension to the forum's ever-growing boundaries!

We could create a NerdSoup minecraft server? Just an idea. But i do like the idea of NS does MC. Should be interesting

I don't play Minecraft much, but I could get into this, and I could take the reigns if you want- I know a lot about Minecraft.

I'm glad this has picked up interest. As I've said, I don't know how it works, so someone will need to take charge of this server (in a similar way to how other people look after our Facebook and Twitter pages). Keep the offers coming though, and SUGGESTIONS!

As I now have Skype I am very interested in being involved in something Minecraft !

I have had an idea ! Ive found a server were you can play pvp , hunger games , pvp world. If I post the IP here and people join I will arrange for me to record us playing as Im going to download some software. Let me know what you guys think !

This is still happening, guys, we're waiting really for VD to return, Scary to get his laptop fixed and for everyone to sort out the general logistics of how this is gonna work.
In the mean time, you can always get some practice in, because remember, you'll be on camera for everyone to see

Any more updates on what's happening here? I know Scary's busy at the moment, but is it possible to start without him and give it a practice run (not that we want to leave Scary out or anything )? I don't want this to be another one of those 'fadeaway' plans, because I see it as having a lot of potential personally.

We could start doing this on other servers first rather than create a NerdSoup one just yet. See how things work out. Maybe do some Hunger Games and stuff like that

I know how this can work. The host of the show has to connect their YouTube account to Google +. I think it would be good to use the Nerd Soup account for that. Then go on Google + then Google Hangouts on Air. Then all of us can talk to each other and broadcast a live video to YouTube on the Channel. If you need help ask me. I do it loads of times with my LIVE YouTube show "TEAMGallifrey"

Just bumping this thread. I still feel that maybe we should try some other servers first before creating our own. Hopefully next year if i get a new laptop and figure out windows 8 (), i should be able to host a server. Until then, i think doing videos on Survival games and servers with lots of mini games like CookieSlap would be good to draw people in to the idea

Im hopefully getting a new laptop soon too , so I can play Minecraft better
